Defensive Driving Classes Have Changed With The Times

Learning to drive is a time consuming process, it can take months, or even years. But what if you don't have the patience or you need to learn quickly, this will not be the best approach. A number of driving schools have introduced intensive driving courses for people who want to learn to drive quickly.

The course would take about one week and hopefully at the end of you would be the proud owner of a driving license. Even if you fail the practical test you have all the knowledge to pass it at a later date, may be after a few shorter refresher courses. The biggest advantage of such a course is that you will learn to drive in 5 days time what could take months to learn if learned otherwise. You will normally pay a flat rate for the course and this usually includes both payments on the driving exam (the theory which is done half way through learning, and the practical part of the driving test done at the end).

Driving Lesson: Options And What To Expect

Nowadays taking driving lessons is almost a right of passage for adults, both men and women alike. Cars afford you the opportunity to avoid the long waits at bus stops, costly taxis, and the convenience and accessibility no other mode of transport or travel can.

Before a person can take to the roads, a Drivers License from the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) must be obtained. To obtain such a license, a person must pass both a theory and practical driving test.

Prior to this, a person must naturally take driving lessons. Usually, each driving lessons will introduce certain new factors involved in driving, or work at polishing off certain maneuvers such as reverse parking, three point turns, roundabouts and so forth. A person must be completely at ease and fluent in each aspect of driving if they are to pass their test.

Some people may take driving lessons for months and months or maybe even span them over a year, thereby slowly absorbing the information and skills they need before taking their tests. For some people this method of driving lessons may work extremely well, and be more natural; however for some people these are the wrong kinds of lessons. A semi intense or fully intense course of driving lesson may be better, allowing a person to immerse themselves fully into learning to drive by absorbing and retaining the information quickly and clearly in a short space of time and being 'keyed-up' on everything when it comes to taking the test.

For many people, confidence is a huge factor of driving, and the thought of taking driving lessons with a stranger may be somewhat daunting or off-putting. For this reason, many people choose to ask relatives or friends if they would give them some lessons to begin with, to allow them to familiarize themselves with the basic functions of the car and driving, to build confidence before they take their detailed and proper driving lessons with qualified instructors.

How To Find Your Perfect Driving School

For you under-18ers: Before you even think of eyeing that shiny new roadster, you're going to have to take drivers ed classes. (If you're past 18, you aren't required by law to take one, but it's still a good idea.) With fewer and fewer high schools offering drivers education courses as part of their curriculum, you may be among the many road-hopeful teenagers who now have to look elsewhere. When it comes to finding a good driving school, cost and distance are important factors to consider - who wants to pay an expensive tuition on top of round-trip gas? But drivers ed classes are essential to your future driving confidence and safety, so they're worth a bit of an investment. Since most states require between 24-30 hours of classroom training plus 6 of actual driving instruction, you'll want to make sure to enroll in the best possible school for your money and time. So keep these four steps in mind when looking for the best driving school:

Step One: List Your Options

To start off, you'll need to know what schools are close by. Here's how to find out: scan the yellow pages, look online, and ask friends for recommendations. Once you've found a few places of interest, it's time to pare down the list.

Step Two: Weed 'Em Out

Before anything, call the schools you're interested in and make sure they're accredited by your state's DMV. Check online or call to ask about pricing and lesson packages - you'll get a sense of what type of place they are from their customer service. If everything's cool, schedule a visit. Since you'll be spending more than a few hours there, it's worth doing a little research to make sure that you're going to a place you actually like and are comfortable in.

Step Three: Size 'Em Up

Now it's time to check out the school. How do you feel there - at ease or nervous? Does the staff seem organized and helpful? You'll want a place with modern classrooms and student vehicles, classes that aren't overcrowded, and up-to-date extras like driving simulators. Are the instructors knowledgeable and attentive to each student? Find out about their class curriculum - it should teach more than just DMV manual basics, but also useful skills like defensive driving and car maintenance. If a school just isn't up to par, keep going down the list until you find one that is!

That's it! It's a pretty simple process - although flipping through the yellow pages and picking a driving school at random is much faster, it really is worth the effort of finding the best one. Drivers ed class is where you'll gain the skills and knowledge that will help you for the rest of your driving years, and what you learn there could even save your life one day. Not to mention that sitting though drivers ed at the wrong school can be awful; wouldn't you rather be at one that makes the experience more fun, interesting, and useful? View more.....
